The second Salsa Fiesta De Indonesia 2008, will be held in Bali from March 21 to March 23. Organized by Linline Sdn,. Bhd. from Malaysia, and co-organised by Made Alfa from Bali also supported by Sector Bar & Restaurant, this event has attracted participants from Australia, Singapore, and Malaysia.
The Salsa Fiesta De Indonesia is a two-day salsa dance event, encompassing dance workshops, performances and parties. The festival will kick off with Salsa dance workshops at Wina Holiday Villa Hotel, Kuta, on Saturday March 22. That evening will feature dinner and dance performances. On Sunday March 23, the festival will commence at Sector Bar & Restaurant, Bali Beach Golf Course, Sanur, at 1:00pm, followed by Performances and Dinner Party at the same locale from 8 pm onwards. The dinner parties will feature performances by Indonesian and international salsa dance instructors and performers from Australia, Singapore and Malaysia.
In town for the event are visiting instructors and performers Nestor Manuelian and Lidia McMahon from Australia. The pair have taught and performed at major salsa dance events in Australia, United States, UK, Italy, Puerto Rico, New Zealand and Hong Kong. Winning 5 national Australian titles in the past 5 years, their team, Modus Vivendi, is the current Australian Salsa Team Champions. Nestor and Lidia were also declared Winners of the 2007 Asian Salsa Open in Hong Kong. According to Event Organizer Ms. Lin Hamid, “They are here to share their love and knowledge of salsa with the Indonesian salsa community.”
Salsa dancing is a partner dance to music that is a fusion of traditional African and Cuban and other Latin-American rhythms. There are many different styles of salsa, including On1, On2, Casino de Rueda, and Cuban-style.
Over the two-day period, The Salsa Fiesta De Indonesia will be running 14 dance workshops of various styles and levels. Each evening’s festivities will start off with dinner and live performances followed by a dance party. Tickets are available for dinner, performance & party starting at Rp 450,000 per night.
